Will Fiber Speed Up The Internet
(part 1 )
Fiber optic internet is something called the broadband internet.
There is the digital subscriber line (DSL) which is a commonly used, it provides the internet through the traditional copper telephone lines . The cable services use the coax cable for internet which customers use to get tv.
In more remote areas where DSL or coax cable is not available customers can choose to get wireless or satellite internet. According to CNBC one of the best internet connection comes through fiber, because DSL and coax cable data is transmitted through copper wires and electrical signals pass through it.
Commonly fiber data is transmitted through glass, but plastic can be used too. This happens with light pulses. Since fiber uses glass it can be better because, when compared to DSL using copper lines; copper degrades with time. Glass not so much.
The optical fiber is thin, flexible, strong. It does not face issues from electromagnetic radiation, or water according to Claudio Mazzali (senior vp, technology Corning Optical communications). He says that it is more reliable, it has much more capacity and bandwidth. In other words, you can put much more data in a optical fiber than copper cables.
