Lori and George, recognized as the world's oldest conjoined twins, passed away at the age of 62.
Twins George and Lori Schappell, who were previously known as the world’s oldest living conjoined twins, have passed away at the age of 62.
Guinness World Records has reported that George and Lori passed away on April 7 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The cause of their death is currently unknown.
At 62 years old, George and Lori surpassed the 30-year life expectancy that their doctors initially predicted for them.
Born in September 1961 in Pennsylvania, the twins were joined by partially fused skulls. According to Guinness, they shared 30 per cent of their brain and several crucial blood vessels as a result.
During their appearance as documentary subjects in 1997, George and Lori were asked if they ever wished they were separated. Their response was a resounding no.
