Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro
The Google pixel 7 and 7 pro are similar to their last year's phone, and fall under the same price range too.
It seems like they made some changes to their software to tackle their hardware problems. The metal camera bar seems fine just as the glass visor from the pixel 6. The metal camera bar is built to fit around to the frame of the phone, it is made up of polished aluminum on the pro and matte aluminum on the pixel 7. Both phones have a brighter display up to 1500 nits on the pixel 7 pro, and 1400 nits on the pixel 7. And there is some extra ram in the pro phone.
The 7 pro display is larger, and the phone is slightly curved around the edges. The battery is good, it can last almost a whole day even though you might be using it throughout the day.
The phone has a second generation tensor g2 chip from Google, and they are working to make its g2 chips more effective and efficient in relevance to their artificial intelligence.
The g2 chip is a bit faster than the first tensor chip, and the real improvements in the phone come from its machine learning improvements. For instance it is 60% faster and 20% more efficient than its previous phone.
This smart phone is a smart phone, for example pixel only offers call screening option, and it also goes beyond this which is pretty cool. Let me tell you about it, there is the option where the phone has a direct my call feature; with this you can press to go through the automated system before the generated voices options are finished.
The home screen search is also nice as usual, with its clean look and good design. There is also the new selfie camera, where google has added a unlock feature using the face; with its AI. Since there is just a single selfie camera on the phone, there is no depth mapping, infrared or face identifying absolute feature here. It can be used quickly, but when you are in a darker areas when trying to use this option its not that great as expected. The phone does have a fingerprint reader for dual authentication, so you can use that if the face unlock features is not working.
I was expecting for the fingerprint reader to have more improvements from the 6 to the 7th, but much changes did not happen. You might not notice the speed it takes to unlock the phone, so its not too bad. But with the ultrasonic readers you might that notice that its a bit faster to unlock phone.
The recorder app is great in this phone. It can do speech to text quickly and accurately, which is cool. It recordes the conversation really well, to the point that it even attaches labels to when the person speaking switches.
The phone has a unblur feature, it can take a picture that is blurry and with the use of AI it can identify what the photo should look like and edit the photo. To remove the blur. It is being said that this is only in the pixel 7 phones, because of the tensor g2 chip in the phone. After a while, other smartphone providers might also have this feature; just a matter of time I guess.
For the camera portion, its the same as last year with both phones having 50 megapixels. The pro one gets a wider ultrawide and autofocus and the pixel 7 has the same as last years. The pro also gets a 5x 48 megapixel telephoto camera. With these features both phones do take good looking photos, its good in taking macro photos aswell.
If you are trying to take a picture of something in a exact moment, this phones does that really well; because of the point shoot cameras. The selfie camera has improved on both devices, now it is a 11 megapixel selfie camera. Both of them take ultra wide selfie shots now, instead of just the pro being able to do that. The video quality is also good, it takes high dynamic range 10-bit color. It maybe behind the I - phone in auto focus and noise levels, it still does a good job taking those good quality video's and photos.
Something that was interesting was that the metal visor and frame are made by 100% recycled materials it has been said.
