Carbon rebates of 2025 payments

This week, millions of Canadians will receive their first carbon rebate payment of the year from the federal government.

The Canada Carbon Rebate payments for January will be sent out on Wednesday to residents in eight provinces: Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan.

The Canada Revenue Agency explains that these payments are designed to help eligible individuals and families offset the costs associated with the federal pollution pricing system.

How much could Canadians get this month?

In Ontario, single individuals will receive $140, while married or common-law couples can expect $210, with an extra $35 for each child under 19. This means a family of four could receive a total of $280.

In Prince Edward Island, individuals can expect $110 this month, while married couples or common-law partners may receive $165. A family of four could get $220. Additionally, all P.E.I. residents qualify for a 20% rural top-up.

In Saskatchewan, individual Canadians can expect a carbon rebate of $188. Single parents and couples will receive an extra $94 for the first child, and an additional $47 for each child under 19.
