Asteroid may hit earth on Valentine’s Day 2046 - NASA

NASA scientists have discovered a asteroid could collide with earth on Valentine’s Day 2046.

NASA calls this asteroid the 2023 DW. The asteroid has a 0.18% chance, or one in 560 odds, to hit the earth.  Its size is said to be over 2 tennis courts,  about 49.29 meters in diameter.

The NASA’s Center for Near Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) has said the chance of the asteroid hitting the earth is extremely unlikely. This should not be a concern for the public. With further observation and calculations the chances of it hitting the earth may go down to zero.

2023 DW has nine other chances to collide with the earth, but NASA's calculations reveal that there is a 99.99% chance it will miss; to collide with Earth.

The orbit analysts will continue to monitor 2023 DW, as more data can be collected with time.
