1,800 year old artifacts discovered - shipwreck
An individual who was diving along the shores of Israel made a discover beneath the water's surface: a collection of marble artifacts dating back several centuries. These items are some of the oldest known sea cargo of this nature in the eastern Mediterranean.
The Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) has stated that the recently discovered artifacts were originally onboard a ship that sunk in the shallow waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
The cargo had many decorated Corinthian column heads and a marble architrave a decorative molding designed for a doorway. These artifacts hold immense rarity and value.
According to the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), it is believed that the ship had the capacity to carry a cargo weighing at least 200 tons. However, the exact quantity of cargo present on the vessel at the time of its sinking remains unknown.
